Karen Audouin
Welcome to InterExchange Au Pair USA! My name is Karen Audouin, and I have been the Local Coordinator for the Metrowest area of Boston, Massachusetts since 2009. My cluster of host families and au pairs includes the Boston suburbs and communities near Worcester and Framingham, MA. I really enjoy being part of an international community and am excited to encourage other families to discover Au Pair USA.
Let me tell you a bit about why I joined Au Pair USA. I graduated college with a degree in French Literature, and then I spent several years living in Paris and traveling around Europe, so I know what it’s like to be living in a culture that’s very foreign to your own. When I returned to the States and after I had children, I taught English as a Second Language. We also hosted our first au pair during that time, and it was a great experience for our family. Au pairs really do expose your children to other cultures, lifestyles, and languages. As a Local Coordinator, I now get to help host families and au pairs enjoy their experience together! It’s also a lot of fun for me to introduce young people from around the world to the Boston area.
I really enjoy meeting new host families and I’m always happy to answer any questions. I think you’ll find that au pairs can be less expensive than other types of child care. If you have more than one child, a live-in au pair is an excellent option, since there are no per-child fees. Average cost to host an au pair is about $340 per week, and you get a lot more flexibility and personalized attention for your children. And you get the security of knowing that your child is being cared for at home by someone you know and trust. It’s an option you really should consider!
If you’re considering hosting an au pair, I’d be happy to talk to you about the program anytime. Just email me and I’ll get information out to you right away. We welcome first time families, and I’m here to walk you through any questions you may have. If you’re ready to apply, you can also fill out our online host family application, and get started that much sooner!
I hope to welcome you to the Au Pair USA family in the near future!
Best Wishes,
Karen
