Stacie Ferrara
Hello! My name is Stacie Ferrara and I am the Au Pair USA Local Coordinator in Monmouth and Ocean counties on the Jersey Shore. I live with my family in Point Pleasant, NJ. Living down the shore means a lot of beautiful weather and, whenever possible, reading or running on the beach. But the most important thing to me is spending as much time as I can with my family.
I’ve always been deeply invested in fostering meaningful cultural exchange. I studied abroad as an exchange student in the south of France when I was in high school and since then, have returned to visit all over Europe. My family—my husband and our three children—has been hosting au pairs through the InterExchange Au Pair USA program for five years now and we’ve loved every minute of it. Our current au pair is from France and we’re excited to welcome a new au pair from Germany this August.
I’ve seen first hand the importance of finding the right applicant to create a formative, lasting connection between your family and the perfect au pair. I’m excited to help you find the au pair that’s right for your family.
Having an au pair is really like having an “older sibling” for the kids. Your au pair lives with you as part of the family, so your children really get to bond with their au pair, and the au pair can learn any house rules and understand your parenting style. I’ve found that having a live-in au pair makes life so much easier, without the hassle of transporting the kids to daycare or worrying about child care when there’s a last-minute schedule change.
The Au Pair USA program was also surprisingly affordable when we sat down and compared the costs to daycare and nanny services. It averages about $340 per week, and that cost covers child care for all three of our children. Day care and nannies often charge per-child fees that can really add up.
If you’re in the Monmouth or Ocean County, NJ area and are thinking about hosting an au pair, please feel free to contact me. I’ll be so happy to answer any questions you might have, or share my experiences as a host mom with you. Best Regards,
Stacie
