The Au Pair USA Local Coordinator for the Seattle, Washington area is:
Alisha Sanvicens
Hi, I’m Alisha Sanvicens and I’m the InterExchange Au Pair USA Local Coordinator for Seattle, Washington. To be more specific, my cluster of host families and au pairs extends to Bellevue, Bremerton, Everett, Kent, Lakewood, Redmond, Renton and Tacoma, WA.
I’m a Seattle native but have lived away for the last twelve years and have come home recently, so am rediscovering how great the Pacific Northwest is with fresh eyes. I attended college in California where I worked as a nanny for local families during the summers. After graduation, I moved to Japan and taught English for two years to elementary and junior high aged students. Japan was an amazing experience and I made not only Japanese friends, but also friends from around the world. The best friend I made was my British husband Dan. We got married in Seattle and spent our first five years together living in the UK. I also lived in New Zealand for a short time.
Most of my adult life has been spent in cultural exchange actually, so it’s obviously something I’m passionate about and believe in! The Au Pair USA program is a fantastic way for families to broaden their cultural horizons, but it’s also a way for budget-minded young families to afford reliable live-in child care. Average cost is about $340 per week, with no per-child fees. Hosting a live-in au pair can also be a way to get more flexibility in your child care schedule. You set the hours with your au pair (up to 45 hrs/week), to make sure coverage is there when you need it. That comes in handy for school closings, sick days, and making sure you have someone you know and trust taking your children to after-school activities.
I hope that through my role as a Local Coordinator, I can help families and au pairs make the most out of a great opportunity to share their own cultures and their time together. I’m available to answer any questions you might have about the program, so please feel free to email me.
Au Pair USA also has an easy online application for host families, if you’re ready to start the application process!
I hope to welcome you to the Au Pair USA family soon!
Cheers,
Alisha
