InterExchange Camp USA is a non-profit organization that works hard to keep costs to camps and participants to a minimum.

Fees & Stipends Paid By Camps

Camps pay minimal fees for our Regular Placement program and NO FEES for participants on our Pre-Placed Visa Sponsorship program which includes international staff you find on your own as well as returning staff members.

*Stipends listed above are based on a 63-day work schedule. If a participant works beyond the contracted 63 days, s/he must be paid an additional $30 per day. In addition to the above fees, camp directors are responsible for covering the cost of their participants' transportation from New York to camp.


Fees Paid and Stipends Earned by Camp Staff

Participants pay a $165 program fee, a $157.50 insurance fee, and a $35 SEVIS fee. Cooperators may charge an administrative fee; Camp USA approves all cooperator fees before the season starts. Applicants who do not fly from London, Madrid, or Paris may also pay a flight supplement fee. The U.S. Department of State mandates fees for visa applications as well.

All Regular program participants are responsible for:

  • Cost of travel to their home country orientation and interview site
  • Cost of the U.S. Embassy's J-1 Visa processing fee and SEVIS fee
  • Cost of traveling from the airport to the hostel in New York City
  • Flight supplements from airports other than London, Madrid or Paris
  • Transportation back to New York City at the end of the program and any costs of changing airline tickets, if necessary
