J-1 Visa Sponsorship for Pre-Selected Interns & Trainees

If you’ve already chosen individuals for your international internship or training program, InterExchange can sponsor their J-1 Visas. We can sponsor one or multiple participants, from nearly anywhere in the world, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements mandated by the U.S. Department of State. Follow the steps below to begin our J-1 Visa sponsorship process for your international interns and trainees.

Follow these steps:

  1. Determine whether you are eligible to host international interns
  2. Conduct a formal interview of the candidate (as required by the State Department)
  3. Establish a start and end date for their internship
  4. Agree upon a stipend or salary
  5. Instruct the intern or trainee to fill out the InterExchange application form
  6. Complete the Host Employer Agreement Form and the Training Plan (DS-7002) and provide these documents to your intern or trainee to submit with the program application.

InterExchange will:

  • Process the application and determine whether the applicant is eligible for a J-1 Visa (all candidates must meet the program’s eligibility requirements)
  • Supply all necessary documentation to applicants for their J-1 Visa interview at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in their home country
  • Offer the participant access to discounted accident and sickness insurance
  • Provide 24-hour support to participants and employers throughout the entire program

What Our Employers Say

“Our company already had roots in Africa and the U.K., so this was a good opportunity to train interns from those countries here in the United States, and then set them up with our office in their home country. They use this experience to help them move forward in the company. From a training perspective, here we are able to maximize our training resources. We’re getting much more cost efficiency here in the U.S.”

–G.M., Makosi, Inc., New York, NY

“Mark is an excellent trainee… he’s willing to learn new things and is enthusiastic.  His skills and international perspective are a welcome addition to our organization… there will be a number of new projects in the coming months and I am confident that he will manage them effectively.”
