Volunteer in Australia

Australia is a natural wonderland with its spectacular landscapes, unique animal life, breathtaking coastlines, and rugged outback. It makes sense that environmental and ecological issues are a top concern to many Australians. Our volunteer programs allow you to experience the Australia that Sydney tourists rarely get to see, and allow you to do your part in preserving the bewitching land Down Under.

Program Details

We work with Australia’s largest conservation volunteer organization, which completes more than 2,000 conservation projects throughout Australia each year. As an InterExchange volunteer, you’ll be involved in one or more of projects related to:

  • Restoring wetlands and coastal areas
  • Protecting natural habitats
  • Building walking bridges over protected land
  • Planting trees to restore bio-diversity
  • Helping endangered species
  • Protecting native plants

We place volunteers in both urban and rural areas all over Australia. You'll spend one to two weeks on a given project, working with a team of 6 -10 volunteers. Then, you’ll usually have the opportunity to work on a different project. Specific projects are assigned on an as-needed basis. On-site training is available at each project site.

Project hours are generally 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and you'll usually have one or two days free per week to relax and sightsee.

As a Volunteer in Australia, you’ll receive:

  • Pre-departure assistance
