Local Support & Assistance for Host Families & Au Pairs
Find a Local Coordinator in Your Area
Host families and au pairs need to know that they have someone nearby who to provide support and assistance. The Au Pair USA local coordinator serves that role.
Every au pair program is required by the American government to have local coordinators in the areas they serve. But we like to think that Au Pair USA has the best local coordinators around! Supportive, warm, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable, our local coordinators go above and beyond to make sure that each of our host families and au pairs have great experiences. Many of our local coordinators have hosted an au pair, so they can offer first-hand advice and guidance. To apply to become local coordinator, click here.

The Role of the Local Coordinator
The local coordinator is always available to answer questions and provide assistance. She also meets with host families and au pairs throughout the program—especially during the early stages of the au pair’s placement. The local coordinator:
- Meets with families who are interested in hosting an au pair
- Visits the host family within 48 hours of the au pair’s arrival
- Meets with the host family and au pair two weeks after the au pair’s arrival
- Checks in with the host family by phone or in person once a month
- Hosts monthly “cluster activities” for the au pairs in the area
- Sends a monthly newsletter
- Hosts a one-day conference for host families
- Serves as the first point of contact in case of an emergency or a problem
Local coordinators are an essential part of the Au Pair USA family. We encourage you to get to know your local coordinator and take advantage of their expertise and enthusiasm!
