Creating Opportunities to Discover the World

At InterExchange, we firmly believe in the power of every individual to foster cross-cultural awareness and global understanding. We believe that any young person who wants to engage in a meaningful cross-cultural experience should have the opportunity to realize that goal.

InterExchange Foundation Grant

The InterExchange Foundation was established in 2006 to provide grants to motivated young Americans who want to contribute to worthy work or volunteer abroad opportunities.

Many students study abroad every year, but far fewer take advantage of the opportunity to work, intern, or volunteer overseas. By providing financial assistance to talented candidates, we hope to encourage young Americans to discover the world and benefit from the unique and enriching insights one can only gain from living and working abroad.

InterExchange Foundation Grants

Grants awarded by the Foundation provide financial assistance to defray the cost of of transportation, participation fees, travel insurance, housing, and meals related to a work, internship, or volunteer abroad program. We offer the following grants:

Working Abroad Grant: This $1,500 grant is awarded to highly qualified participants in the InterExchange Working Abroad program. Learn more.

Christianson Grant: A $2,500 - $10,000 grant awarded to a participant in a self-arranged work abroad program. Learn more.

Fostering Global Citizenship

The InterExchange Foundation is proud to support young Americans on the journey to becoming true global citizens. Our grant recipients have made substantial contributions to valuable programs and projects around the world, including:

  • Social work in Costa Rica
  • Ecology in Australia
  • Conservation in Ecuador
  • Education in Nicaragua
  • Early Childhood Education in India
  • Journalism in Israel

These are just some of the ways our grant recipients are working to make a difference. Read about their experiences or learn how to apply for the Working Abroad or Christianson Grant yourself.
