Applying for Your Visa
The process of obtaining a visa can begin only after your J-1 Visa Application has been approved. Once approved, InterExchange will create a record for you in SEVIS, an internet-based government database that monitors all exchange visitors in the United States on J-1 Trainee and Internship visas and a DS-2019 form will be generated and express delivered to you by InterExchange.
All exchange visitors on J-1 Internship and Trainee Visas are required to pay a $100 SEVIS fee before petitioning a U.S. embassy for a J-1 Trainee or Internship visa. InterExchange will give you detailed instructions on how to pay the SEVIS fee after your Application is approved. You must bring your original DS-2019 form with you for your interview at the U.S. embassy.
