Types of Seasonal Work Visas
International seasonal staff arrive in the U.S. on either the short-term J-1 Visa Work and Travel program or the longer-term H-2B Visa program. J-1 Visas allow participants to work for up to 4 months, and H-2B Visas allow participants to work for up to 10 months with the possibility to renew their visa. International interns are also available for more advanced positions.
Water Park Jobs and Lifeguard Jobs Available
Region: Throughout the U.S.
Typical season: May - September (during the summer); however, some indoor water parks will be open year-round.
Water Park and Lifeguard Job Responsibilities
Sales Help: These jobs require workers to be fluent in English. They can be found in food and beverage, and sometimes in shops. Responsibilities may include working the cash register, dealing with U.S. currency, attending customers and guests, cleaning up after work.
Ride Operator: Assisting with park rides, including roller coasters, ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, etc.
Game Attendant: Dealing with guests, especially children, and operating game machines.
Food and Beverage: Positions will vary from cooks and table bus servers to cashiers and waiters. Generally, you will be asked to perform different responsibilities, such as selling and serving food, helping with its preparation, cleaning up, and assisting the cook.
Lifeguard: This may include water rescue, diving, first aid administration, etc. Swimming experience is necessary for this position.
Maintenance: This may include repairs, cleaning public areas (including public restrooms), taking out the garbage.
