Local Representatives

The Local Representative (“LR”) plays an important role in the Work & Travel USA program. A Local Representative’s primary responsibility is to introduce local seasonal employers to the benefits of the Work & Travel USA program. Local Representatives are independent contractors who work from home part-time on a commission basis to promote the program, generate new leads and provide basic follow up with seasonal employers in their regions.

Local Representatives are self-starters who are great at making connections and enjoy acting as a resource for clients. Local Representatives use their knowledge of the local business community and superior sales skills to recruit area businesses who would like to hire international student employees during their busy seasons. Local Representatives will report to Regional Managers and may also work closely with other staff in our New York City headquarters.

Position Requirements:

  • Become conversant in how the program can benefit seasonal employers
  • Establish and elevate the brand profile of InterExchange Work & Travel USA in the local area
  • Follow up on employer leads provided and/or approved by New York office to locate seasonal staffing positions
  • Sell program to local seasonal employers using a personalized approach
  • Work with Regional Managers to screen and vet interested employers
  • Network and establish relationships with local business organizations (Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, etc.)
  • Provide accurate, organized reporting to Regional Managers in a timely fashion
  • Stay abreast of changes in local seasonal employer industry

Local Representatives will:

  • Have an enthusiasm and interest for international cultural exchange programs
  • Maintain a strong sense of professional ethics and standards, as well as personal integrity
  • Possess superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Show exceptional follow-through initiative and dependability
  • Be inquisitive and resourceful with strong internet research skills
  • Have a flexible schedule (must be able to meet local employers at their convenience)
  • Be a good driver with a car and comprehensive automobile insurance coverage
