Become an Au Pair in the Netherlands

As an au pair in the Netherlands, you’ll have the opportunity to live in one of the friendliest and most dynamic countries in Europe. Most Dutch people speak fluent English, making communication easier for you. No matter where you live in the Netherlands, you’ll enjoy the one of the country’s most popular (and eco-friendly) form of transportation — riding a bike.  During your free time, you’ll be able to explore the local shops, nightlife, traditional windmills, watch a soccer match and more. With two weeks of paid vacation, you’ll also have the opportunity to do some independent traveling around the Netherlands and across Europe - which is right on your doorstep!

Program Details

Au pairs in the Netherlands provide a maximum of 30 hours of child care per week. You may also be asked to provide up to 3 nights of additional babysitting. Working hours and pay will ultimately be determined in your contract with the family.

As an au pair in the Netherlands, you’ll receive:

  • Placement with a carefully screened host family
  • A private room and full board
  • Pocket money of approximately 300 Euros per month
  • 270 Euros towards Dutch language classes
  • 2 weeks of paid vacation per year
  • At least 2 complete days off per week
  • Basic health and accident insurance
  • Membership in "Au Pair Club," including 8 meetings and city trips per year
  • A welcome package on arrival with telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of au pairs in your area
  • Written first aid course upon arrival, and certificate of completion at the end of your stay
  • ISE card - International Student & Youth Exchange Identification Card
