Volunteer in India

Endlessly fascinating and amazingly diverse, the subcontinent of India is an ideal location for international volunteers. There is no better way to explore India’s incredibly complex and diverse culture, cuisine, geography and society. Each volunteer project offers a unique experience in a different region in India and empowers you to make a positive impact.

Program Details

When you arrive in India, representatives from our Indian cooperator will meet with you to find a volunteer placement that both matches your interests and serves local social service needs. Typical placements include primary schools, day care centers and other community-oriented projects. You’ll work about 20-25 hours per week, including one hour of mandatory community work per week.

In addition to your volunteer work, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to participate in special workshops about Indian culture - such as yoga and cooking - as well as planned excursions to local cultural and historical sites. Throughout your stay, you’ll be aided by local assistants who serve as guides, translators and overall support staff.

Volunteer placements are available in the following areas of India:

  • Goa
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Rajasthan

Review the individual opportunities listed above for additional details, including typical volunteer placements in each area, program fees and accommodation style.
