Water Safety Tips

It is getting warmer and some families who have pools in their yards would perhaps want to talk about water safety this month. I would like to make it a topic for May. Here are a few points host families and au pairs can talk about to keep the little ones safe.

  • Never allow children to swim alone or leave them unattended near water
  • Remove all toys from the pool when finished to prevent children from trying to get them on their own at a later point
  • Water vests, wings or flotation devices can give a false sense of security - never use them in place of adult supervision
  • Do not assume children are safe in water even if they have taken swim lessons
