There are 47 days until summer and it seems like the warm weather is finally here to stay! Now is a great time of year to get outside and enjoy all that our neighborhoods have to offer. Here are some fun events happening about town:

Hoboken Irish Festival

Sat., May 16th • 12pm to 6:00pm at Sinatra Park 

Irish Soda Bread Contest

Hoboken Hurling Club demo & Youth Clinic, Irish Clothing and Crafts, Sheep Shearing Demonstration, Traditional Irish Food, Beer Garden.

Activities for children including: pony rides, petting zoo, moonwalk, obstacle course, horse drawn carriage, face painting, balloon artist, Trackless Train, sand art.

Featuring performances by: McLean Avenue Band & Gold n’ Brown, Garden St. Step Dancers & Emerald Fire, Kerri Smith Academy of Irish Dance and Aherne Sheehan School of Irish Dance

Summer Enchanted Evening Concert Series

These FREE outdoor performances will be held Thursday evenings in the Amphitheater at Sinatra Park, located on Frank Sinatra Dr. between 4th and 5th. Note: Schedules are subject to change. Some shows have rain dates.

Jersey City free live concerts at the Grove PATH Plaza

Groove on Grove is a FREE weekly music series that began in 2008 featuring a wide variety of musicians, performers, local businesses and sponsors. This is a family-friendly event that brings our community together to celebrate Jersey City and its diversity.

Secaucus Green Festival Saturday, May 9th 10am-4pm

The Town of Secaucus is hosting its 5th Annual Green Festival at Secaucus Xchange. Activities include environmental crafts for children, live music, canoe rides, live animals, face painting, educational hourly presentations and over 50 food and green product vendors. Secaucus Xchange is located right on the Hackensack River, next to Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus.

Fleet Week

Fleet Week New York City, now in its 27th year, is the city’s time-honored celebration of the sea services. It is an unparalleled opportunity for the citizens of New York and the surrounding tri-state area to meet sailors, marines and coast guards, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services.

Visiting of the Ships:

Thursday, May 21 – Monday, May 25

General public ship tours begin

Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Lines may be capped at 3:00 pm

Ship tours will be held during the week at Pier 92 in Manhattan and The Sullivans Pier in Staten Island. Tours will be conducted daily.
