Morris and Somerset County Au Pairs Love to Volunteer!

1 minute

As a Local Coordinator, I try to encourage every au pair in my cluster to get involved with organizations that are near and dear to his or her heart.

What better way for au pairs to experience American culture than to volunteer in their community? As a Local Coordinator, I try to encourage every au pair in my cluster to get involved with organizations that are near and dear to his or her heart. My au pairs volunteer with Habitat For Humanity annually as well as various fundraiser events.

Volunteering is a great way for au pairs and host families to bond as well. I have au pairs that volunteer at the local animal shelter with their host children. Other au pairs get involved with organizations and causes that directly affect their host families, such as autism, U.S. military support or cancer. The important thing is for host families and au pairs to get involved with their communities and help make a difference. Whether it’s planting a tree, organizing a fundraiser or running a 5K, there is no role too big or too small and there are opportunities to volunteer everywhere. So get out there into your communities and get involved!
