This family is looking forward to welcoming their first au pair. The host dad is currently the main caretaker but will soon be traveling on a sailing trip so the family hopes that having a "big sister" will be fun and give her another good role-model.
The daughter likes making new friends and enjoys being active; she is involved in tennis, netball, sailing, swimming and showing her dog. On the weekends the family generally spends most of their time out and about on the boat, at the beach house or dog show. They often go out for breakfast.
The au pair will need to be independent enough to do her own thing when the girl is in school during the day. Au pair has access to the car in spare time also. School pick-up can be done by car or on foot or by scooter. Some of the after-school activities require driving. The family lives in an affluent area but the host mom wants to ensure they are a normal family. They want their daughter to grow up with good role models, understand boundaries and learn responsibility from small tasks such as tidying up after herself, etc.
