Quentin Gambier from France is currently in the midst of his Mechanical Engineering internship at Airbus DS Military Aircraft, Inc. in Alabama.
This amazing company works on design, development, delivery and support in the field of military aircrafts, and Quentin has been involved in maintenance and repair, customer service and support, and engineering projects and has been having an excellent time immersing himself in U.S. culture.
Margaret Gibson, his supervisor, recently got in touch to say how well everything is going!
She said, “The greatest benefit has been the insight he has provided with coming into departments and looking at the processes with fresh eyes and new ideas. He has shared ideas and suggestions freely which has enabled us to streamline processes in one particular case. He has developed a matrix that is being used in another area. Very beneficial improvements that are highly respected by the team.”
Margaret also indicated that Quentin “has adjusted extremely well. He has taken initiative to develop relationships both professionally and personally with the staff and outside of the workplace. He has participated in several outside activities such as trips to the local beach, attended a musical concert, made a trip to another state to view their vacation spots, etc. He is very engaged with our team and he has been invited to participate in many activities with their family members and friends. He is very friendly and likeable personality and mixes well with all age groups.”
“Quentin has had the opportunity to experience the local life in Alabama and go to the beach in Dauphin Island or in Pensacola. It is a beautiful region. Quentin went with an employee and his family and friends to the beach to jet ski and have some ‘fun in the sun’.”
Finally, Margaret said, “This has been an enjoyable experience. The intern has been a pleasure to work with. He has given me the chance to learn about his culture and understand his future career goals. He has been pleasant to work with and flexible as needed to change departments or projects based on business demands. Very good overall experience from my point of view.”
