The Appalachian Trail is a marked hiking trail originating in Maine and ending in Georgia. Transportation to destinations:If possible, renting a car is highly recommended. Public transportation is available, although limited in some towns. Hiring a taxi can be costly and they are often not readily available without booking in advance. Renting a car also allows you the flexibility to easily visit many towns, resorts, hiking/biking trails and parks in the region, according to your pace and schedule.
