Each year, international students travel to the Rehoboth Beach–Dewey Beach resort area for summer employment. Away from their families, friends, and countries these students rely on the International Student Outreach Program (ISOP), whose mission is to create a hospitable community that welcomes and provides a safe environment for students by offering meals, transportation, emergency assistance and fellowship. The program is led by the Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches, in partnership with the Rehoboth-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and residents.

On July 15, 2104 Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Robin Lerner, and Peter C. Schwartzkopf, the Speaker of the Delaware House of Representatives visited Epworth Church in Rehoboth Beach to participate in a Rehoboth Beach International Student Outreach Program event. Despite the stormy weather that drenched the usually sunny beach town that day, nearly 250 J-1 Visa Summer Work and Travel Students and community volunteers came out to share stories, smiles and a delicious meal together.
As a part of the ISOP, local churches hold these J-1-focused events four nights a week so that students and community volunteers can enjoy dinner together, along with plenty of good conversation in a mutually respectful and caring atmosphere.
