The 2024 study, conducted by Rajika Bhandari Advisors, surveyed over 5,300 program alumni and 600 employers who participated between 2019-2023.

Economic Benefits

  • In 2023, SWT participants contributed $353 million to the U.S. economy.
  • The program provides critical support to seasonal businesses, with 86% of employers relying on participants to fill staffing shortages.
  • Without these international visitors, 82% of businesses report they would face negative impacts including reduced service quality and decreased revenue.

Cultural Impact

Host employers report that international participants enhance workplace culture (79%) and increase community cultural awareness (93%).

Diplomatic Value

Upon returning home, 96% of alumni recommend the program to others, while 87% actively share their positive U.S. experiences.

These connections build global goodwill toward America, with 73% of employers stating the program helps establish strategic international alliances.
