Being an au pair with InterExchange Au Pair USA gives you the opportunity to engage in American culture while living with a welcoming family. As an au pair, you will provide up to 45 hours of childcare, take college-level classes in the U.S., travel, and have the chance to make new friends from the host community and around the world!

Why become an au pair?
The many benefits of the program include improving your English, gaining valuable life experience, making lifelong connections, and learning about American culture firsthand. Many au pairs stay in contact with their host families for many years, and even visit each other after their time ends. The experience of living abroad, travelling, working in a new context, and learning about a new culture is an enriching one that is sure to help you in your career.
What are the benefits of becoming an au pair?
As an au pair, you'll receive a weekly stipend of at least $195.75 during your stay with your host family. Your host family provides room and board, so you won't need to worry about paying for housing or meals during your time in the U.S. Your host family will also provide you with up to $500 per year for classes at a local college or university!
InterExchange provides a comprehensive Orientation and Training program when you arrive in the United States. You'll get valuable training in child care safety and learn about adapting to life in the USA. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to tour New York City and take advantage of everything the city has to offer.
How will I be supported on the program?
Each month, your Local Coordinator will organize a meeting for all of the au pairs in your area. These meetings are often cultural, educational, or social in nature, and are a great opportunity to make friends and share your experiences.
Monthly meetings often include:
