InterExchange guarantees a competitive pay rate for participants in our Camp Placement program. Stipend amounts vary based on the type of camp jobs, as well as age levels. With camp room and board included, your stipend is money in the bank that can help fund your post-camp adventures!
If you already have a job and are participating in our Self Placement program, then you'll negotiate your stipend directly with your camp.
Stipends for InterExchange Participants in the Camp Placement Program Are:
|Age||Stipend (Self-purchased flight)||Stipend (Flight purchased by partner)*|
|19 - 20||$1,650||$950|
|21 and over||$1,750||$1,050|
*If you are applying through an InterExchange-approved cooperator, please note that your program fee will be different based on the services provided by the cooperator. For more information, please contact the cooperator directly for a description of their fees and services. Your program fee includes accident and sickness insurance for the entire duration of the program.
These stipends are all based on a nine-week (63-day) schedule. If your placement lasts longer, you’ll be paid an additional $30 for each additional day you work. And remember, your camp will also provide you with free housing and meals!
|Amount||When it's due|
Your $100 application fee kicks off the process; once your application is accepted, you'll be ready to connect with potential camps. Once you are placed, the remaining $235 is due and will cover your insurance and sponsorship fees.
What do my fees cover?
Your fees cover comprehensive services: your orientation, J-1 Visa sponsorship, and 24-hour support the entire time you are in the USA. We're always here to help you!
Is there anything that the fee will not cover?
You're responsible for your own flight*, the U.S. Embassy fee of $160 USD, and any additional costs associated with obtaining application documents (police report, doctor, etc.).
What if I'm not placed? What if I change my mind? Can I get a refund?
If we don't find a placement by June 1st, all fees are refundable! If you choose not to continue with the program prior to June 1st, there will be a $100 cancellation fee.
*Participants who apply through an InterExchange-approved cooperator may have their flight included in the fee.
