How many jobs can you think of that let you enjoy the outdoors, meet new people, improve your English, and add international experience to your resume, all while immersing yourself in a new culture? Working at a camp in America might just be the most fun and enriching summer job you'll ever have. No matter your role, you become part of the camp family. You'll make lifelong connections with people from around the world - it's inevitable when you're spending every day together in a fun new place!
As a participant on our program, you'll have everything you need for a memorable and exciting summer, including an orientation and cultural resources, documents to obtain a J-1 Visa (DS-2019 Form), accident and sickness insurance, and more.
You'll also enjoy free room and board and a stipend of at least $2,700 (pre-tax) or the federal minimum wage orduring your work period!
Support staff are responsible for the behind-the-scenes work that keeps camp running. In some camps, you may only do one job all summer and in others, you may rotate jobs throughout the week. Support staff jobs require long hours of physical labor, but you'll receive a slightly higher stipend than counselors.
This is the most common support staff job. You will wash dishes, prepare food, clean tables and floors, set up the dining room, and take out the garbage.
You will vacuum or sweep, tidy up bunks or cabins, clean toilets, and keep the rest of camp generally neat.
You may be responsible for carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, mowing lawns, cleaning pools, painting, or any other job needed to make sure camp looks nice and runs well.
Working in the main office, you will answer phones, work with computers, and do other general office tasks. Strong English skills are very important to these positions.
We work hard to find quality placements at the country's best camps and to ease the visa process for those returning to camp jobs year after year. We visit camps to get a sense of their individual philosophy and culture so we can match our international counselors with the best camp experience for them. Throughout your stay in the USA, InterExchange will always be available to help you, 24 hours a day.
Experience the magic of camp while working in a support staff role.
