What is a meetup?

NYC Cultural Meetups are informal gatherings that are open to all InterExchange program participants.

How much does it cost to attend a meetup?

Meetups are FREE! Some cultural activities require advanced ticket purchase. See meetup registration page for details.

Where does a meetup take place?

The first portion of the meetup takes place at the InterExchange office. It is then followed by a cultural activity, which takes place place off-site in New York City.

The closest subway stations are:

  • 1, 2, 3: Wall Street
  • 4, 5: Wall Street
  • J, Z: Broad Street
  • A, C: Fulton Street

When does a meetup start and how long does it last?

The start time is 10:00 a.m. Our goal is to start all meetups on time and we rely on you! If you are running late - other meetup guests will be waiting for you. We recommend arriving a little early because you will need extra time to go through security at our building. Duration of each meetup depends on the cultural activity; see the registration page for more details.

Where can I stay in NYC?

You are responsible for making your accommodation arrangements in NYC. We’ve created a map of affordable hostels and special discounts.

Does InterExchange provide meals?

InterExchange does not provide meals during your stay in NYC but we will suggest inexpensive places to eat close to our office.

What should I bring to a meetup?

Your smile! You will also need a photo ID to enter our office building.

Can I bring my friend to a meetup?

NYC Cultural Meetups are tailored to the needs of InterExchange participants. If your friend is not an InterExchange participant, the content of the first portion of the meetup will not apply to them. Friends are welcome to join the cultural activity portion of the meetup that you register for.

I want to apply for my Social Security number in NYC, can you help me?

Of course! The Social Security Office is located very close to InterExchange. Make sure to bring necessary documents for your application. Find out what you need to know about your Social Security number.

What is the dress code?

Wear comfortable casual clothing and comfortable walking shoes. We recommend checking the weather in advance.


Registration cancellation and refund policy

If you are not able to make it to the meetup, send us an email and let us know (as soon as possible, please!)

If you registered for a meetup with a paid cultural activity, please email us at least 7 days in advance to get a full refund. Late cancellations will not be refunded.

Disclaimer Free cultural activities are subject to last minute changes. For example, if you signed up for a Brooklyn Bridge Walk and it is raining outside, we may do a different cultural activity (also free!).
