A Conversation Coach lives with a welcoming host family and tutors the children in English for 15 hours per week in exchange for accommodation and all meals. Most placements are in Le Marche, a gorgeous region of Italy with unbelievable views and lush countryside. Some placements are available in other parts of the country. Because the volunteer commitment is only 15 hours, you'll have plenty of time to travel this beautiful country and make Italian friends!

Dates and Application Deadlines
We accept applications and organize placements throughout the year! Please apply at least three months prior to your desired start date.
Once we've sent your application abroad, we'll work on your host family placement (this can take a few weeks, especially if you've applied well in advance). We will notify you as soon as a placement has been found so you can connect with the family over email and/or video chat to make sure that you are both happy with the match. Once confirmed, we will provide all of the next steps on when to book your flight, where to purchase insurance, and how to prepare to be a Conversation Coach and live abroad.
Your host family will pick you up from the airport or train station. They'll bring you to their home and will help to get you oriented to your new environment and your host children. You'll also work with your family to set up a tutoring schedule and will discuss how to get around the neighborhood, where to go and what to see! Throughout your program, our international cooperator will be there to make sure your transition is smooth and fun.

What our participants are saying
The marvelous thing about global citizenship is that one never reaches an end point where one has obtained it… The Conversation Coach program brings me one step closer to working for a non-governmental organization working with people to help solve global challenges, experiencing a new way of living and engaging in a cultural exchange. Dagmar
As a teacher I get the summer off and wanted to do something different in terms of knowing a new culture and meeting new people. I wanted to step out of my confort zone and teach the language to non English speakers… I have enjoyed everything! The classes, the craft activities with the girls, meeting new people, going to the beach. Sausan
