You’ll explore these questions and others during this one-week special interest tour. Enjoy local performances, learn about the world of theater in London’s days of old. Go way back to Roman times with a visit to Bath and even further back with a trip to Stonehenge. And in the process, make new friends who share your interests in theater, art, history, and travel!

Day 1 - Welcome to the UK!

Meet your Tour Leader at Heathrow airport, transfer via London Underground to your accommodation to get checked in and have an initial briefing. Stroll to the vibrant and picturesque St. Katherine's Dock for a welcome dinner and short orientation walk with your group leader.

Day 2 - Globe Theatre Tour, Workshop, & West End Show

Take in the scene at St. Paul's cathedral and walk across the iconic Millenium Bridge before a guided tour of the Globe Theatre, a faithful reconstruction of the open-air playhouse designed in 1599 where many of Shakespeare's plays were performed. Head to Covent Garden for a lunch break and explore the historic market and shops. In the afternoon, you'll take part in an exciting theatre workshop led by experienced actors. Enjoy a group dinner and your first West End theatre production.

Day 3 - Stonehenge & Bath

Day-trip! Visit the world famous prehistoric monument of Stonehenge where a guide will walk you through the ancient landscape and provide insight into Neolithic life. Continue to the historic city of Bath to explore the Roman Baths. Time permitting, stroll the quaint streets and shops of Bath town center before heading back to London for dinner.

Day 4 - Tower of London, British Museum, & Theatre Performance

Visit the Tower of London where you will learn the history of this fascinating castle and see the incredible Crown Jewels! Enjoy a traditional Sunday roast lunch, then wander the architecturally renowned British Museum dedicated to human history, art, and culture with incredible artifacts and relics from all over the world! In the evening, attend a second West End theatre production.

Day 5 - Stratford-upon-Avon & Oxford

After breakfast, head to Stratford-upon-Avon for a guided tour of the childhood home of Shakespeare and of the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre. On the way back to London, stop for a tour in the university town of Oxford, the oldest English-speaking university in the World. Many of England’s thinkers and writers have attended Oxford including Sir Walter Raleigh and Dr. Seuss, as well as modern day prime ministers. Group dinner and overnight stay back in London.

Day 6 - Westminster, Victoria & Albert Museum, and Theatre Performance

Enjoy a Thames River boat journey and guided walking tour to the sites of some of London’s finest and most famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St. James’ Palace and St. James’ park. Take a short journey to South Kensington for a tour of the Victoria & Albert Museum, the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. For your final evening, enjoy a farewell dinner together and a final West End theatre experience.

Day 7 - Return Home

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home!

Who is this program designed for?

This program is for anyone looking to join a group of intrepid explorers with a shared interest on a fun, group tour! The typical age range for previous groups has been between 18 and 30, and we’ve had a lot of college students and recent graduates. There is no prior experience required, although the minimum age is 18 and you must also have your doctor sign our medical form confirming you are medically fit to participate. On most days, you may find yourself on your feet for 6 hours or more, so a reasonable level of fitness is required to participate.

Where will I be staying?

You will stay in a London hotel or hostel throughout your trip. Rooms will be multi-share with members of your Gapforce group and will have shared bathroom facilities. 

What is the food like?

All meals are included each day. Breakfasts will be simple, buffet-style continental fare taken at the accommodation typically consisting of toast, cereals, cheese and fruit. Dinners will be at local restaurants where either participants can choose from a limited menu or a pre-ordered dish will be provided for the group; typical dishes include, fish and chips, sausage and mash, burger and fries. The program can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free diets. If you have any other specific dietary concerns or restrictions we would encourage you to let us know upon signing up so that we can ensure there won’t be any difficulties accommodating them.

What type of transport will I be using?

You are responsible for your flights to and from Heathrow Airport in London. During the trip, airport transfers are included. Internal travel throughout the trip will consist of a range of transport types, including the underground, trains, river boats and buses. Public transport will generally be used in London with private buses used for excursions outside the city. Please give us a call for more information on individual journey details.

Who will be supervising me?

Throughout your trip you will be accompanied by a Gapforce Expedition Leader. At various stages of your trip we utilize the services of local tour guides.

How much spending money do I need?

You will need money for lunches, drinks & snacks, as well as for any activities or entrance fees not included as part of the itinerary. We advise you to budget for £100 - £150 for the week (this is a guideline only).
