1. Sign up

Complete our quick sign up process, and indicate your estimated start date. If you're a U.S. citizen between 18 and 30, you can enroll with InterExchange and start your program any time you want. We prefer that you sign up at least six weeks before your desired travel date.

2. Get your visa

Obtain your New Zealand Working Holiday Visa online. It's a quick and easy process, with a typical turnaround within 2 weeks (though this can vary).

3. Book your flights

If you're participating on a Welcome Week, check out the specific start dates for Auckland. If you're not, you can arrive in Auckland or Christchurch any day. We'll confirm all of your travel details before we complete your registration.

4. Arrive

We'll provide transportation from the airport to your accommodation and a dorm-style room for your first few nights, which is a great place to meet some new people as you start your program.

5. Orientation

You'll attend an orientation session at the office of our partner in Auckland or Christchurch. You'll learn more about finding work, travel, logistics, and connecting with other participants.

6. Travel, work, and get paid!

Friendly and experienced staff in Auckland and Christchurch are on call to speak with you about your job goals and can connect you with employers for short-term work. Participants who are engaged with the support staff are usually able to find work within 1-2 weeks. You can stay, travel, and work for up to a year!
