The Super Bowl: a Time-Honored American Tradition

January 27, 2025

2 -min read

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, family and friends across the U.S. — and around the world — will gather to watch the Big Game. The two teams competing are determined by a pair of championship games, with the winners advancing to the Super Bowl. Fans can also look forward to a much-anticipated halftime performance by Bad Bunny.

The teams will face off at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California at 6:30 PM ET / 3:30 PM PT, competing for the glory and the coveted Lombardi Trophy! The Super Bowl has consistently been one of the most watched broadcasts in the USA every year since 1967. It’s a pretty big deal.

Whether or not you’re a fan of American football, there is nothing quite like the energy and excitement that can be felt in homes and sports bars around the country. It is insatiable. Between spectacular athletic performances, the acclaimed half-time show, and ground-breaking TV commercials, you are sure to enjoy the Super Bowl.

This will be Super Bowl 60 (LX), and like every other year, the game will be opened with performances of patriotic songs. Grammy-nominated multi-platinum artist Charlie Puth will perform the National Anthem, 11-time Grammy winner Brandi Carlile will sing “America the Beautiful,” and Grammy-winning R&B breakout star Coco Jones will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

The Halftime Show

During the Super Bowl, there are 4 quarters of play. During the halftime show, after the second quarter, it’s tradition for big name music stars to perform a short concert on the field. This year, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny—one of the most-streamed artists in the world—will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. Known for his electrifying performances and genre-defining hits that blend reggaeton, Latin trap, and pop, Bad Bunny is sure to deliver a spectacular performance. In a historic first, the halftime show will feature a multilingual signing program incorporating Puerto Rican Sign Language.

The Insane Commercials

With millions of viewers tuning in each year, the Super Bowl provides an excellent opportunity for brands from all industries to feature their ads between the game plays. Some of the most viral TV commercials of all time have screened first during the Super Bowl. This year, a 30-second advertisement costs a base rate of $7 million! You can watch some of the best commercials from 2025 on YouTube.

Puppy Bowl XXII

For those less interested in football, we completely understand and empathize. While we enjoy it, in truth, not everyone here at InterExchange is so excited about the big game. But one thing we can all agree on is puppies. At 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT on Animal Planet (and simulcast on Discovery, TBS, truTV, HBO Max, and discovery+), Puppy Bowl XXII features a record-breaking 150 of the most adorable puppies from 72 shelters across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands battling for the Lombarky trophy. This is all for a good cause, too, as all dogs from Team Ruff and Team Fluff are up for adoption. New this year: a special exhibition game featuring senior dogs as Team Oldies faces off against Team Goldies!

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy many aspects of American culture, whether it is the epic NFL showdown, the halftime show, or Puppy Bowl XXII.
