━ A Message From Our CEO

"These aren't fleeting encounters; they're bridges that last."

Every day, our team works alongside participants, host families, employers, and the U.S. Department of State to build authentic connections that deepen understanding between the United States and communities around the world. These aren’t fleeting encounters. They’re bridges that last.

In 2025, we expanded our reach, strengthened participant support, and deepened our advocacy alongside industry partners and policymakers. Looking ahead, we remain focused on ensuring every exchange is safe, meaningful, and impactful.

━ Supporting U.S. Communities

Door County Partnership

For 15+ years, InterExchange has placed exchange visitors with seasonal employers across Door County, including hotels, restaurants, parks, and cultural attractions. With a year-round population of 30,000 and 2 million+ annual visitors, the region depends on seasonal labor. Through Work and Travel USA, exchange visitors help small, locally owned businesses meet peak demand while enriching the community with perspectives from countries like Albania, Romania, Turkey, Colombia, and Ukraine.

In 2025, InterExchange placed international counselors at 32 summer camps in 15 states, serving campers with diverse needs. These counselors bring cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and global perspectives to inclusive camp environments.

$128,000+

In 2025, the Christianson Fellowship awarded more than $128,000 to support 12 Fellows from nine U.S. states conducting projects in nine countries—the largest single-year grant total in the InterExchange Foundation’s history.

“Gaining hands-on experience abroad in a field you’re passionate about, with a well-researched and ethically responsible organization, is a life-changing opportunity. The experience will challenge you, broaden your perspective, and push you to grow in ways you never expected.”

━ Work Abroad & Gapforce Programs

Expanding Opportunities for Americans Abroad

We provided life-changing experiences to almost 270 young Americans from 38 U.S. states who embarked on adventures through our Work Abroad and Gapforce programs—from year-long working holidays in Australia to group expeditions across Latin America and Asia.

Enhancing the Participant Experience

2025 Exchange Day

InterExchange staff and participants volunteered at God’s Love We Deliver in New York City, contributing to over 1,000 medically-tailored meals packed for New Yorkers in need. We also contributed to Exchange Day events across the country, including a pizza party for exchange visitors in the Wisconsin Dells.

Au pairs and Local Coordinators volunteered at both the L.A. and NYC Marathons, attended the 49th Annual Native American Festival, and assembled care bags for children in the foster care system through a Princeton-area cluster event.

━ Community Building

Community Support Group
Engagement

InterExchange proudly supported the vital work of Community Support Groups (CSGs) across the United States in 2025. Staff attended CSG Welcome events in Ocean City, MD; the Outer Banks, NC; and Port Clinton, OH—gatherings where program sponsors, community leaders, housing providers, public safety officials, and host employers come together to welcome BridgeUSA participants. As part of our ongoing safety campaign, InterExchange distributed free bike lights to help participants stay visible and safe on the roads.

“We couldn’t survive economically without these kids. There’s just not enough people to meet demand in the summertime.”

2025 Cultural Quest

This year’s Cultural Quest shifted from open participation to a curated, aptitude-driven selection process, inviting participants to submit video auditions to become content creators. We saw strong interest with over 130 sign-ups and 40 auditions submitted. The 16 finalists published over 60 videos, reaching 30,000 Instagram accounts and achieving over 500,000 views and 4,000 interactions.

━ Advocacy and Leadership

Meeting with Congressman Jack Bergman

In September, we hosted Congressman Jack Bergman (R, MI-1) in Bellaire, Michigan, where host employers, including representatives from Boyne Mountain Resort and Shanty Creek Resort highlighted the program’s vital role in meeting peak-season workforce needs.
