For some of you, this might be your host employer’s first time hosting a J-1 Intern or Trainee, and your host employer may have some questions about the application process. You can play an important role in clarifying the process for your host employer with the answers to these frequently asked questions.

Is our company eligible to be a Host Employer?

Please review our full list of employer requirements.

How much does it cost for Host Employers?

Host employers will pay no program, visa, or placement fees to participate in our program. If the company has fewer than 25 employees and less than $3 million in revenue, we’re required by the State Department to perform a site visit prior to approving you for the program. We charge a one-time $250 fee for a site visit, but once the company is accepted into the program, they’ll never have a repeat charge.

What do we have to do for the application process?

Please review the application process for host employers.

How do we complete the DS-7002 Training Plan?

The DS-7002 Training Plan will need to be completed within the online application. We cannot accept separate documents or attachments for the training plan. Employers can review our Training Plan Guide for more information.

How can I access the online application? I never received an email invitation.

You will invite your host employer to the online application via your online dashboard. If you have already done this, and your supervisor has not received the invitation, it may have been blocked by the company’s firewall or lost in their spam folder. To access the application they will go to app.interexchange.org.

If they do not know their password, they can click the forgot password link, and enter the email address that you used for the invitation. This will send a new email with password reset instructions that will allow them to access the application. If this doesn’t work, please feel free to contact us.

Does your employer have additional questions? They’re always welcome to [email](mailto: [email protected]) or call us with any questions or concerns.
