First you’ll need to complete an easy enrollment online. When you’re ready, submit, and we’ll contact you to go over the program in more detail and answer any questions you have.
You'll choose between the Home Tutor Program and the School Teaching Assistant Program. Please keep in mind the following program dates.

2. Connect with host families and schools
Once we’ve sent your application abroad, we’ll work on your host family placement (this can take a few weeks, especially if you’ve applied well in advance). We’ll notify you as soon as a family has been found so you can connect with them over email and/or video chat to make sure that you’re both happy with the match. Most placements are in the suburbs of Madrid for the Home Tutor program. Placements for the School Teaching Assistant Program are in the Maresme region, just north of Barcelona.
If volunteering at a school, you’ll also receive your school placement with contact information for a coordinator.
Once confirmed, we’ll provide all of the next steps, such as when to book your flight and where to purchase travel health insurance.We’ll also provide helpful resources for teaching in Spain and connecting with other participants.
3. Travel and Teach
You'll likely arrive on a Saturday or Sunday and start your first day of tutoring or assistant teaching on the following Monday. Your schedule can be discussed with your hosts prior to departure, so you'll know what to expect.
The Home Tutor Program is only a 15-hour per week volunteer commitment, so you'll have a ton of time to explore your neighborhood and take weekend trips!
If you're participating on the School Teaching Assistant option, you'll be at your school for 15 hours each week and tutor your host family for just 3-5 hours per week—still plenty of time to soak up Spain! Your hosts and our in-country partner can provide travel advice so you make the most of your time.
